Catapult Grey Bruce Hosts First AGM & Fundraising Golf Tournament
Two new directors have joined the Catapult Grey Bruce board in anticipation of an exciting future ahead.
Catapult Grey Bruce is pleased to announce Mia Toose and Jackie Smalec were elected to the board of directors at the organization’s first annual general meeting (AGM) held in-person and virtually from Sydenham Campus Skilled Trades, Training and Innovation Center in Owen Sound on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
“Mentorship and community are two of Catapult’s core beliefs and we are thrilled to welcome our new directors who share these values,” said Courtney Denard, Catapult Grey Bruce chairperson.
“Jackie and Mia’s experience with not-for-profits, combined with their professional and entrepreneurial endeavours and familiarity with our programs, will be a tremendous resource as Catapult Grey Bruce continues to grow,” Denard added.
The board also elected the executive for the coming year. Courtney Denard was re-elected chairperson, Toose was elected vice-chairperson, and Mike Comello was re-elected treasurer. Ben Kirkconnell and Courtney Miller round out the board.
Also during the AGM, Executive Director Jennifer Christie highlighted the organization's accomplishments in its first eighteen months of operations and recognized volunteers, donors, and funders for their support.
Catapult Grey Bruce is working towards three primary outcomes through its mission of empowering entrepreneurs with connections, knowledge, and space to take their business to the next level.
They include:
An ecosystem that connects and enables entrepreneurs to support entrepreneurs.
A local pipeline that nurtures innovation and growth.
A healthy, sustainable not-for-profit organization.
In that spirit, Catapult will be hosting its first fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Stone Tree in Owen Sound with tee times starting at 1:00 p.m.
The highly anticipated event will bring together local entrepreneurs and members of the Catapult team for an afternoon of golf, networking and fun. All proceeds will go towards programming that supports businesses in the Grey Bruce region.
