Catapult Grey Bruce's New Digital Marketing Associate
Hello everyone!
My name is David Yin and as the new Digital Marketing Associate for Catapult Grey Bruce, you’ll see me contribute more often in this blog.
I am excited to be working for Catapult Grey Bruce because as a University of Waterloo (UW) student, I’ve had the privilege to discover new technologies on a constant basis. I’ve met, researched, and talked to many entrepreneurs within the Waterloo region, some of them being my classmates, and I’ve been inspired by their ingenuity and desire to make their world a better place. Therefore, I want to use this job opportunity to meet new entrepreneurs, learn more about startups, and better understand the unique challenges of running an independent business in a rural community.
Additionally, I think being a Digital Marketing Associate is a great opportunity to apply my creativity to benefit the public, while also strengthening my writing and graphic design skills. I’ve managed to cultivate both skills through volunteering as an investigative reporter and photographer at Imprint, UW’s official student newspaper, as well as interning for the UW School of Optometry as a Patient Education Content Developer.
I’d like to discuss some of my future goals here, but the reality is I’d much rather be open to a wide range of opportunities than pigeonhole myself into a specific career path. One thing I’ve learned through COVID-19 is that I cannot control the future, and therefore, I find it healthier to focus on the present rather than tie myself down to an uncertain fate.
